Our RC3 group was successful at getting a random lottery draw for the Nike Womens' Marathon. We'll have 6 chicks in the full marathon (Jennifer L, Nikki, Susie K, Elaine, Melissa L (Missy) and myself (e). We will also have 6 chicks in the half marathon (Syndie, Darris, Emilie, Amy O, Kristin and her daughter, Melissa)

Cave Creek Trail Run Report... Dos

We have more photos to show you of our fun Cave Creek Trail Run. Most of these are compliments of Cave Creek Trail Run. You can see all of the photos they took here.. Kristin N forwarded a couple of her daughter, Melissa, who finished 2nd in the Jr. Women 10k. Since both Melissa and Gunnar did so well and they are the offspring of some speedy RC3 chicks, I think we need to have another division of RC3... How about we call the kids "Peeps"?

My only disclaimer is that some of these fine photos are the result of a very nice photographer that posted to his mobile me account and has allowed for them to be downloaded. Thank you!

As always, if you click on the photo, you'll get a bigger/better view.

Jr. "Peep" Melissa Nelson and her 10k, 2nd place women's Jr award .

Proud RC3 chick Kristin with daughter Melissa.

Little Peep, Gunnar with his goodie bag. He not only placed 2nd in the Jr 5k division, but he also found the only prize egg on the 5k course.

Gunnar showing off his second place trophy.

Gunnar and Dad, Bobby running into the finish. You'll get to see where Mom (Susie was) in a subsequent post.

Nice photo of Dara before she took her kids off on the 2k scavenger hunt.

Having a chat after the race was over.

Waiting for the start.

Cave Creek Trail Run Report

The weather couldn't have been more perfect for the inaugural Cave Creek Trail Run. It was cold at the start but near perfect running temps and sunny for the race. The course is on primitive trails that go through State land that the City of Cave Creek is trying to purchase for preservation. I think I can speak for all the RC3 Chicks who signed up when I say we all felt this was a worthy cause. Proceeds for the race went towards the purchase fund.

I loved the course. It was very challenging and technical. Lots of rocky uphill and downhill. However, time and distance seem to go by faster when one is concentrating on keeping their footing and the scenery is awesome.

The highlights were seeing so many RC3 chicks show up for the 5k and 10k. Susy Q (Schlottmann) and Syndie did the 5k course. Shelly, Susan P, Kristin N, Renee U, Christina, Darris and myself did the 10K. Jennifer L, Emilie S and Dara L were there doing the 2k fun run/hike with their kids (they had a great kid friendly venue). Fast chick, Susie Kramer, was not there but her son Gunnar was there to represent. We were so excited when he got this big second place trophy in the juniors division. He also was the lucky finder of the one prize egg on the 5k course. Needless to say, it was a great day for Gunnar and his Dad (Bobby) who participated with Gunnar.

And there is some back story behind the firemen photo with the veiled runner chick...
Megan (who is from Wisconsin and who we did not meet until after the race) ran the Cave Creek Trail run instead of getting married on Saturday by no fault of her own. I think whoever that guy was that left this obviously strong and beautiful woman was stupid. However, as Darris told her--these things happen for a reason. She'll be better off and a much smarter guy will make her happy. I confess, I asked these attractive young fire dudes to help us put a little smile on her face. She'll get a good laugh out of this photo when she looks back on the whole thing. And well... afterwards, we thought we should all get our photo taken with a fireman too!

Megan from Wisconsin and her fireman friends. We wish you well Megan.
You can come run with RC3 chicks anytime you're in town!

Awesome awards! These are the coolest I've seen in a long time.

One can never overlook an opportunity to get their photo taken with a fireman... from left to right Shelly, Christina, Renee (425) cute Fire Dude #1, e (408), Kristin N, Susan P (in back) cute Fire Dude #2 and Darris.
