RC3 Chick, Trish, TV appearance

The nice thing about our RC3 Chicks is that we have diversity in our daily lives and jobs. Trish is finishing out a degree in holistic healing and was featured on the local news this a.m. demonstrating doggy acupressure. Although, she had the speaking roll, I think Hope was the true star.

Meet RC3 Chick—Renee Ureel

Monthly, we'll be featuring one of our RC3 Chicks. We are quite proud of the cool mix of runners in our group. This month we would like to introduce you to Renee...

Renee with her Grandson, Nathan, at her Son's wedding.

Name/Nickname: I don’t have a nickname but I do get this comment often if I use the first initial of my first name together with my last name r u reel.

What are your goals? I’ve been off the running routine for a long time because of an illness. So when I joined boot camp (Cave Creek Adventure Boot Camp) and realized we had so much running to do in our workouts, it got me thinking that I would like to see if I could get back on the running track again. When you great chicks decided to start up a running club, I was even more interested and got excited about running again. I have wanted to join a running club for a long time but was unable to find one that fit my needs. My goal is to run in the PF Changs half marathon in January. I haven’t signed up yet so I may need a little push.

Do you have a favorite running song? I do not have a “favorite” running song. I really like to mix it up. I load the NOW cd’s into my IPod so the songs are current but different and always changing.

Where's your favorite place to run? My favorites place to run with our group is Spur Cross. I like looking at the mountain views when we’re running away from Cave Creek Road. When traveling I like getting the opportunity to run in different places. I’ve run in Death Valley, Telluride, Moab and through Hell (Michigan) just to name a few.

Tell us a little about YOU. We’ve lived in the Cave Creek area actually Desert Hills about 6 years. I used to travel a lot for work so it’s just recently that we are spending more time in our area. My husband, Brad and I enjoy hiking and jeep trails. We have covered a lot on ground in Arizona, places like Crown King, Bumble Bee and Payson. There is still a portion of the original stage coach trail from Phoenix to Prescott which we’ve traveled. Pretty interesting to think folks from years ago journeyed down that same road. I have two married children and a three year old grandson who all reside in Michigan.

Favorite saying or inspiration. A while ago, someone quoted the following statement and I personally find it true for me; “To be happy you need 3 things; something to do, something to look forward to and someone to love”. I feel that if you have these things in life you’re doing pretty well.

Do you have a "mantra" that keeps you going? When running I don’t have a mantra but I do use the technique where I say to myself, I can run to that tree and then I can run to that driveway and so on. It makes the run more fun for me and it proves to me that I can go further than I first thought.

Track Morning

Another day on the track. We had a nice turnout and I think everyone got in a solid workout. There was one token "Dude" sharing the track with us today (Rich?). He was very nice and impressed us with his bleacher hopping skills. Plus he was our photographer for the morning.

AND we welcomed Trish for her first RC3 run this a.m. It's always good to have new Chicks!
